The company started its activity in 1987 by the will of Palmioli Sandro. After a significative experience gained working for watch manufacturers in Switzerland, in 1962 he was hired in the Fiat Mirafiori site as specialized technician in metal sheet molds. His outcomes were soon rewarded with level growth, recognitions and Fiat meritorious awards for the innovative technologies introduced. In a few years he was transferred to the technical office of large-size mold Design for automotive industry such as sides, front and rear bonnet, doors, mudguards, etc. and finally, before becoming an entrepreneur, he designed molds for sides and doors of Lancia Tema and Alfa Romeo 164, collaborating in design operations with the great stylist Giugiaro.

The company business started in Tolentino, in the region of Marche (home country of its founder), following a very interesting proposal from Merloni Elettrodomestici: the group saw Mr Palmioli as a key figure for the automation of production processes. At first, the work was basically focused on the design of automated molding and assembly plants, followed by the design of plants for the construction of the washing machine Margherita (tub and cover), for kitchens, cookers and fridges. But soon the Ariston group asked Mr Palmioli to integrate within his company also the plant construction activity and, right after, the production too, thus turning into a supplier of automated plants and sheet metals.

In 2000, after finishing high school, Mr Palmioli's sons joined the company undertaking with enthusiasm the paternal entrepreneurial business. Broadening the production horizons they opened up to automotive, telecommunications and truck markets. In order to meet the increasing demand, they acquired large presses, robotic systems and CNC machines to realize metal sheet molds. In a few years, the company experienced an exponential growth, rising to nearly 60 employees and was awarded with a prestigious acknowledgement by the Commission "L'Italia che lavora".

In 2011 S.P.L. expanded its productive activity by integrating the construction of metal sheet molds both for third parties and for its own molding systems and, to this day, the company mission is to offer the customer a complete package in terms of sheet metal production, that includes:

• Tooling design (molds and production automation)

• Tool and plant construction

• Mechanical machining for own and third parties account

• Production (molding and assembly)

• Product certification through the Quality Control Laboratory

• Delivery to the customer (including just-in-time management)

In 2014, within a strong business growth and expansion of the customer base, S.P.L. acquired a recently built larger industrial factory of 4.500 sq.m., easily reachable from the main Italian road networks thanks to its a strategic position in the industrial area, adjacent to the speedway exit.

In 2015 the business activity further increased and the installation of new machinery implied the need of more space. Hence the purchase of a second industrial building of 2.700 sq.m. adjacent to the existing one, to be used as warehouse. In 2017 another factory of 500 sq.m. was purchased, exclusively destined to personnel areas.

The company currently covers a covered area of 8.000 sq.m. of covered area and over 10.000 sq.m. of courtyards and external areas organized as follows:

Warehouse Area 2.700 sq.m.

Offices Area and Product department Area 650 sq.m.

The courtyards cover about 10.000 sq.m.
